The short answer: choose the Basic (from £2,500 + VAT) if you need three crash-tested seats, a crash-tested steel bulkhead and glass, and the van is mainly a working vehicle. Choose the Full (from £3,200 + VAT) if your crew spends longer in the back or you want a finished passenger area, because it adds a trimmed interior plus lights and speakers. If you run a smaller van, start with the Small (from £1,850 + VAT).

What the Basic and Full have in common
Both conversions start with the parts that let a van carry a crew safely:
- three crash-tested seats with seat belts
- a crash-tested steel bulkhead between the passengers and the load area
- ply lining
- glass
Whichever you pick, every PVS conversion is warranted, DVA and insurance approved, and comes with a detailed engineer’s report.
What the Full adds
The Full takes the Basic and finishes the passenger area: the ply lining is trimmed, and lights and speakers are fitted.
| Basic | Full | |
|---|---|---|
| Crash-tested seats with seat belts | 3 | 3 |
| Crash-tested steel bulkhead | Yes | Yes |
| Glass | Yes | Yes |
| Interior | Ply-lined | Ply-lined and trimmed |
| Lights and speakers | Not included | Included |
| Price from | £2,500 + VAT | £3,200 + VAT |
At the starting prices, the difference is £700 + VAT. Any extras are priced on top of either option.
How to choose: match the specification to the working day
The right choice depends less on the van and more on how your crew uses it.
The Basic usually makes sense when
- your crew rides between nearby jobs, so time in the back is short
- the van is a working tool first, and how the back looks matters less
- you would rather spend the budget on the load area, for example shelving, chequer plate flooring or a roof rack
The Full usually makes sense when
- your crew spends a long time in the back on the way to site
- people get in and out in the dark on winter mornings and evenings, where interior lights help
- you want the back to feel like a proper passenger area rather than a lined van
Where the Small fits
The Small (from £1,850 + VAT) is our crew conversion for smaller vans. It comes with three crash-tested seats and 3-point seat belts, a ply-lined and trimmed interior, wipe-clean non-slip flooring, seat fabric or leatherette to match, and an engineer’s report. On small vans we can also remove and trim the rear foot well.
An example of the decision
This is an illustration of how the choice works, not a PVS customer.
A small building firm runs a long-wheelbase, high-roof van. Two of the crew ride in the back most mornings, about 40 minutes each way, and the load area carries power tools and fixings.
The journey time points to the Full: a trimmed interior with lights makes those trips more comfortable, particularly through the winter. Behind the bulkhead, shelving keeps the tools organised. Their quote request would say the van’s make, model and year, that it is long wheelbase with a high roof, that they want three seats in the Full specification with shelving added, and the date they need the van back on the road.
Extras to decide at the same time
It is simpler to price everything in one go. Options from our crew van extras list include:
- additional or reclining seats
- tables
- opening windows and privacy tint
- chequer plate floor covering
- shelving, roof racks and tow bars
For racking and storage beyond shelving, see our van modifications.
What we need to quote your crew van
To give you an accurate price, send us:
- your van’s make, model and year (and the registration if you have it)
- its wheelbase and roof height, for example long wheelbase with a high roof
- how many passengers you need to carry, and whether you are looking at the Small, Basic or Full
- any extras you want, and when you need the van back
Most crew van conversions take from a few days to one to two weeks, depending on the build and the extras.
